We invite you to join the Rotary Club of Tenafly for its Thanksgiving Luncheon. The keynote speaker will be Mr. JD DeSantis from the Mid-Bergen Rotary Club. Mr. DeSantis was a member of the FDNY’s Dignitary Protection Units (DPU), and recipient of the Mayor’s Medal (Giuliani 7/96), the Department’s Medal of Honor, and the Lifesaving Medal.
While a member of the DPU, he was assigned to Protective Medicine details for four presidents and three Popes. He provided Protective Medicine Operations for the United Nations General Assemblies for UNGA ‘s 44 through 72 and was also assigned to details for 75+ Foreign Heads of State. Mr. DeSantis’s duties while on DPU at the White House were to work with the White House Medical Unit to develop rapid treatment and removal protocols for a protectee should he/she become ill or injured in a tactical situation.
